Welcome!
The Physical Education Department is working to help students grow physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. We are excited to begin working on our personal fitness goals and ready to take the challenge on new activities. We are devoted to work with all students with a variety of abilities. We ask students to bring the same work ethic and attitude that they bring to each of their other classes to Physical Education! In short, KINARD CHARACTER comes with us everywhere!

Course Description: This class focuses on both health and skill related fitness components. We allow students to learn new skills, enhance previously learned skills and successfully participate in a variety of activities.

Health-Related Fitness Components:

  2. Muscular Endurance
  3. Muscular Strength
  4. Flexibility
  5. Body Composition

Skill-Related Fitness Components:
  1. Balance

  3. Power
  4. Reaction Time

Materials Needed:
ü Physical Education Uniform
ü Athletic Shoes

Learning Opportunities: will consist of in-class activities, occasional homework, quizzes, participation and tests.

Grades: will be reported based on the following scale:
· A 90-100%
· B 80-89%
· C 70-79%
· I Below 70% (Refer to Academic Plan for details on the intervention plan)

Make-Up work: This is an activity class, absent students are responsible to make up the time missed. Each Physical Education teacher has a stack of “blue sheets” for students to complete for their absence. The student needs to pick up a “blue sheet” and have a conversation with the teacher on when it is due.

Daily grades and assignments are on a point value. Due to minimal homework, class participation and productivity is crucial to success and will be graded daily.
